If you fill in a form on this site we get your name, your farm, your region and your email, and we use them to reply to you. If you use the farmBI platform, the working numbers about your farm are yours — we don't sell them, share them, or fold them into anyone's benchmark.
Information we collect from this website
If you complete the pilot enquiry form we collect the name, farm or business name, region and email address you give us, along with anything you choose to write in the notes field. If you subscribe to Field notes we collect your email address.
We also collect basic, anonymous information about how the website is used — which pages are opened, roughly where in the world visitors are, and what kind of device they are on. This is aggregated traffic data provided by Vercel, who host the site. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and cannot be traced back to an individual person.
There is no advertising on this site and no advertising trackers. Your browser does request fonts from Google Fonts when the page loads, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request — the same as on most websites. We don't receive anything from it.
Why we collect it, and what we do with it
To reply to you, and to run the pilot programme. Enquiry details are handled by Formspree, which delivers them to our inbox, and are stored in our email. Newsletter addresses are used to send Field notes and nothing else — every issue carries an unsubscribe link.
We don't sell your details, we don't rent them, and we don't pass them to stock firms, banks, processors or anyone else for marketing.
Your farm data in the platform
This is separate from the website, and it matters more.
If you're a farmBI user, the information you put into the platform — your stock, your feed position, your prices, the scenarios you run — belongs to your business. It sits in your account. We don't share it with a processor, a bank, a stock firm or a rural professional, and we don't aggregate it into an industry benchmark or sell it as a dataset.
If you decide to send a draft plan to a buyer or a processor, that is your decision, made deliberately, one artefact at a time. Nothing else travels with it.
We do look at how the platform is used — which screens people open, where things break — so we can improve it. That's about behaviour in the software, not about the contents of your farm.
Where it's stored
Platform data is held in managed cloud infrastructure with access restricted to farmBI. As the business grows we intend to move production data to New Zealand‑hosted infrastructure. If you'd like to know exactly where your data sits today, ask us and we'll tell you.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails are kept while there's a live conversation and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Platform data is kept for as long as you're a user, and deleted on request when you're not.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Email us and we'll deal with it — there's no form to fill in and no charge.
You can also ask us to delete your details entirely, and we will, subject to anything we're legally required to retain.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy issue, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this statement
If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we'll update this page and change the version and date at the top. Material changes will be mentioned to existing users rather than made quietly.
